The Robert H N Ho Family Foundation awards doctoral students 10-month research or writing fellowships in Buddhist studies. This fellowship is also administered by the American Council of Learned Societies (ACLS). Research Fellowships are for use in the field for fieldwork or archival investigations. Writing Fellowships are for use after the research is complete, to write the dissertation. The fellowship's purpose is to enhance the understanding and interpretation of Buddhist thought in scholarship and society, strengthen international networks of Buddhist studies, and increase the visibility of innovative currents in those studies.
Stipend: Stipend: $35,000 and an award supplement of up to $5,000 for childcare/elder care, health insurance, learned society conference attendance, or related professional training.
ntrinsic significance of the topic and its potential contribution to Buddhist studies. Pursuit of the PhD degree at an accredited, degree-granting university. Completion by April 15 of the current academic year of all requirements for the PhD degree except research and writing of the dissertation. Bibliography. 2 reference letters.
