Council of American Overseas Research Center (CAORC) offers 8 awards to PhD and postdoc to carry out cross-regional research outside the US. The Council of American Overseas Research Centers (CAORC) Multi-Country Fellowship Program supports advanced regional or trans-regional research in the humanities, social sciences, or allied natural sciences for US doctoral candidates and scholars who have already earned their PhD. Scholars will research in at least 2 countries outside of the United States, and at least one will have an American overseas research center. Applicants are eligible to apply as individuals or in teams. The award is for a minimum of 90 days and Fellows may travel and carry out research between the period of May 2019 and November 2020. (The 90 day travel minimum can be split into multiple trips and does not need to be consecutive.)
Stipend: . Each award is $12,600. Funding is provided by the US Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.​ ​
Must have a PhD or be a doctoral candidate who has completed all PhD requirements with the exception of the dissertation. Must be engaged in the study of and research in the humanities, social sciences, and allied natural sciences. 2 letters of recommendation: PhD candidates must submit 1 letter from their academic advisor. Project description explaining why the applicant needs to research in a chosen country. (1500 words or less) Project bibliography/literature review. CV (3 pages max) Transcripts (PhD candidates only) If the applicant is a U.S. citizen PhD candidate studying abroad please send MA transcripts and a letter from the registrar stating that she or he is registered in the PhD program. Preference will be given to candidates examining comparative and/or cross-regional research.
