Benefits

If a scholarship is awarded to a student, the student will receive up to a maximum amount of $5,280, for their final year of tuition.

Requirements

As a condition of receiving the scholarship, the student will need to meet the following requirements:

  • The student will apply for all available financial aid.
  • The student will sign an employment contract with F.F. Thompson Hospital that will require the student to work full time at the Hospital on a unit in rotating shifts that will be determined by the Hospital, in its sole discretion.  If the student is willing to work solely night shifts, the student will not have a rotating schedule. The employment contract will require full-time employment for two full years (first year in residency).
  • The student will be and remain in good standing with FLCC for the full academic year.
  • The student will graduate from FLCC with a nursing degree and obtain a license and registration to practice as a registered nurse. A license must be secured within a maximum of five months from graduation.
  • The student will work full-time at the Hospital for two years as described in their signed employment contract.

If the student fails to meet any of the above requirements, the student will repay Thompson Health the full amount of the scholarship paid to the student. If required, the student may establish a repayment schedule to repay the scholarship, but that schedule will not exceed a 4-month repayment period.  Should the student default on repayment of any portion of this debt, Thompson Health will turn the account over to a collections agency, which will provide collection services on Thompson Health’s behalf.
