The Alray Scholars Program at University of Massachusetts, Boston 2026

The Alray Scholars program is an outside scholarship not administered by UMass Boston that some of our students have used in the past to help fund their education. If selected as a recipient awards range from $1,000 to $4,000.

Benefits

 If selected as a recipient awards range from $1,000 to $4,000. 

Requirements

• Graduated from a Boston public high school or a Boston charter high school, or received a GED after attending one of these schools; or graduated from the Metco program while residing in Boston
• Enrolled and started a college, trade school, or vocational program after completing high school
• Left your educational program (without completing) due to a range of family, personal, or educational reasons
• Used your time away from your educational program productively, such as being involved in a variety of community, school, and work activities

Selection Process

Schedule a 30-minute interview held in June/July or October/November

We are excited that you have decided to apply to the Alray Scholars Program!

The online application consists of sections that ask for detailed personal, education, and work information. There are a few short-answer questions as well. We will evaluate your application using this rubric.

*Note that you are applying to participate in a program, rather than just receiving a scholarship award.

Keep in mind that:

• We anticipate that the application will take approximately 30 minutes to complete. 

• All fields marked with an asterisk (*) on the application are required.

• You will not be able to save your progress on the form. Please consider scrolling through the application to look at the questions to give you time to gather any information needed to complete the application.
