The Ronald A. Hammond Scholarship, which honors the legacy of the University’s first director of minority affairs, is one of the premier scholarships available to students at the University of Miami. This Premier Scholarship is awarded to high school seniors who, through evaluation of their application and supporting documents, demonstrate academic prowess, and are steadfastly committed to community by creating a culture of belonging.

Benefits
- Hammond Scholars receive the full cost of tuition for the completion of one undergraduate degree, which is up to eight semesters, or ten semesters for students in the School of Architecture.
Requirements
- Open only to U.S. Citizens and U.S. Permanent Residents.
- In addition to the criteria listed above, eligible students are required to apply for Early Decision I or Early Action and must submit all First-Year Admission Requirements by the November 1 deadline.
Selection Process
- The scholarship is awarded to high school seniors based on a thorough evaluation of their application and supporting documents.
- Recipients of the Hammond Scholarship will be invited to participate in the University of Miami's scholarship program, which will be held in the spring. During this program, candidates will meet with UM faculty and current scholars and learn more about our interest-driven education.
