Alvin H. Zagor Memorial Scholarship Prize at NYU 2025

The purpose of this scholarship prize is to honor the memory of a man whose life was dedicated to provide counsel and friendship to all who sought it.  He had a strong commitment to the scholarly pursuit of humane studies in our technological and science-oriented society.  The fund will make possible an appropriate forum for the discussion and continuation of his concerns by encouraging students in appropriate disciplines.

A $1000 Alvin H. Zagor Scholarship Prize will be awarded annually to a College of Arts and Science junior or senior.

Requirements

• Who has earned a grade-point average of at least 3.50
• Whose academic record and life experience demonstrate wide-ranging interests and concern for the necessity of the humane studies in intellectual development of the modern professional.
• Candidates must have a deep appreciation for, and commitment to, ethical choices and principles.  
• They must demonstrate as well the conviction that a liberal arts education is a means of defining the educated person.
