The Newberry Library, located in Chicago, includes information on civilizations of Western Europe and the Americas, offers 4-12 month fellowships to researchers. The Newberry Library is Chicago, Illinois' independent research library. Its general collection focuses on the humanities within Western civilization from the late Middle Ages to the early twentieth century. Numerous types of long-term fellowships are offered. Fellows will also promote serious intellectual exchange through active participation in the Newberry’s scholarly activities, including fellows’ seminars and a weekly colloquium.
Stipend: Fellowships are available to postdoctoral scholars for 4 to 9 months with a stipend of $5,000 per month.
Must be pursuing research in a field appropriate to the Newberry’s collections. Letters of recommendation. Project proposal. Fellows must be in residence at the Newberry throughout the tenure of their fellowship without any major interruptions or absences. Preference is given to applicants that have not held major fellowships in the last 3 years.
