There are two Graduate Research Fellowship (GRF) solicitations: Fellowship program in the Social and Behavioral Sciences and Fellowship program in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). NIJ invests in doctoral education by supporting universities that sponsor students who demonstrate the potential to successfully complete doctoral degree programs in disciplines relevant to the mission of NIJ.
Stipend: $35,000 is dedicated toward the fellow’s salary/stipend and related costs. Up to $15,000 is used to cover the student’s tuition and fees, research expenses, and related costs.
The doctoral student must have completed, or is near completion of, all required course work. The doctoral student must have passed qualifying comprehensive exams. The doctoral student must be advanced to candidacy by the U.S. university. Program narrative. Budget detail. Timeline. Letters of support. Statement of Progress letter. Transcripts. The official applicant to the Graduate Research Fellowship (GRF) Program is the sponsoring academic institution. The university or college office of sponsored research or research office completes: 1) Assurances. 2) Certifications. 3) Disclosures. 4) Privacy Certificate.
