The Alexander Von Humboldt Foundation offers 500 fellowships to academic postdoctoral scholars interested in conducting research in Germany for 6-24 months. Educated postdoctoral scholars will plan and follow a long-term research project on the topic of their choice. Candidate selection will be based on academic record, quality of key publications, and research outline.
Stipend: Monthly stipend of approximately $3,000 U.S. dollars. Additional support is available for travel, accompanying spouses, health insurance, and language courses. Award can be renewable for up to 12 months.
Must hold a Ph.D. or equivalent degree completed less than 4 years ago. Candidates may apply before getting their Ph.D. if they will complete their doctorate within the next six months. A good command of the German language. High academic achievement. Three stapled or bound copies of publications. Academic host at a research institution in Germany who will write a statement on the candidate's behalf. Candidates must start the fellowship within 12 months of being selected.
Selection committee dates in February/March, June/July, and October/November, so applications should be submitted 4-7 months before selection.
