The United States-Israel Educational Foundation (USIEF) offers 8 postdoc fellowships for 2 or more years to US scholars who will research at Israel institutions. The fellowship must be at least 2 years, or 20 months, in Israel. Fellows should be focused on the broad cultural goals of a postdoctoral experience in Israel, and how they can share this experience when they return to the United States. Includes basic health insurance for the grantee, reimbursement of round-trip airfare expenses for grantees (and spouses), and partial reimbursement of education expenses for children.
Stipend: Stipend of $60,000 per academic year for two years, plus a grant(s) from the host institution.
Candidates must be planning to conduct post-doctoral research in Israel for a period of at least two academic years (20 months net). Candidates must be in good health. All applicants selected for a Fulbright grant are required to submit a Medical History and Examination Report before their grants can be activated. Program fellows must be accepted as postdoctoral researchers by Israeli host institutions. Project abstract. 3 reference letters. Must have received the PhD within the last 5 years. Preference will be given to candidates who have received doctorates within the last 3 years or who are about to receive their doctorate. Preference is given to applicants who have not had significant prior professional experience in Israel. Knowledge of Hebrew is helpful but not required, except as necessary for the conduct of proposed research projects. Prior to activation of grants awarded, candidates selected must give proof of completion of all requirements for receipt of the doctoral degree.
