Fred M. Young Sr./SAE Engineering Scholarship 2027

The Young Radiator Co. established this scholarship in memory of the company's founder, Fred M. Young Sr. who started the company in 1927 and saw it grow to become a major force in the field of heat transfer. He had a high regard for the value of engineering in terms of its contribution to the success of society and the future engineering workforce, which is supported through this scholarship.

Benefits

• This scholarship will be paid into your account at your selected university in August.
• It can be used for tuition or any other incidental school expenses.

Requirements

• U.S. resident
• 3.0 cumulative college GPA
• Incoming Juniors and Seniors are eligible
• Pursue an engineering or related science degree through an ABET accredited program
• Provide two (2) Letters of Recommendation - one (1) that focuses on academics and one (1) that outlines involvement in extra-curricular activities or employment
• Special consideration will be given to those who plan to pursue a career in the Commercial Vehicle Industry (ie: studying areas such as electric & autonomous vehicles, connectivity & data, predictive maintenance, improved fuel efficiencies, and on-highway emissions standards for heavy-duty vehicles)
• Applicant will detail current/future industry trends that are most important to them and how their desired career path could make the greatest contribution to industry

This scholarship is generously funded by an external donor and is not sourced from institutional funds.

Selection Process

• Recipient will be selected by the SAE Scholarship Committee and notified in July.
• All SAE Scholarship winners will be posted in August.
• This scholarship will be paid into your account at your selected university in August.
• It can be used for tuition or any other incidental school expenses.
