Attached is a Checklist and Application for the 2026 Vlisidis Scholarship. Please make sure you read these instructions very carefully. Candidates must submit a completed application with all required documentation to the Scholarship Committee by the due date in order to be considered for an award. One or more scholarships of $1,000 will be awarded. The application is three pages long and must be filled out in its entirety. All required documentation must be included with your submission (see list below and the Checklist for details). Make sure you include the Checklist as the top page of your completed application. The committee will not consider incomplete applications. Please print clearly. The deadline for submitting your completed application is May 15, 2026.

As designated by the donor, selection of the recipients will be based on the following criteria: • This is a scholarship based on need, and all candidates must provide evidence of true financial need. • At the time of application, candidates must be high school seniors and beginning their undergraduate degree program in the Fall of 2026 or already a full-time matriculated student committed to serious study of chemistry on a full-time basis in an undergraduate degree program at an accredited college or university. • Must be a member in good standing of the Eastern Orthodox Faith, within one of the jurisdictions of the "Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops of North and Central America". Applicants must also provide evidence of being involved in church and parish activities. • Candidates must be citizens or permanent residents of the United States. Proof of permanent residency is required i.e. copy of Birth Certificate; Naturalization Certificate; Permanent Residency Documents. • Applicants must provide the Scholarship Committee with evidence of their scholastic standing, including high school transcripts with a minimum grade point average B, 85, or 3.0. • Candidates must have achieved and must provide proof of a combined SAT minimum score of at least 1000. If the SATs were not taken, another measure used by the academic community, for example the ACT, could be substituted. • All candidates must provide evidence of financial need. • Students already enrolled in college must also submit their current college transcripts,as well as their high school transcripts, plus their SAT (or ACT) test scores. • Candidates must submit a fully completed application to the Scholarship Committee. The application is three pages long, and all sections need to be filled out. Please print clearly. 1
All the required documentation, as highlighted on the Checklist and listed below, must also be included with your submission. • Make sure your application submission includes the following: 1. Official transcripts from high school and if applicable from college. 2. Letter of acceptance (for those entering college in August/September 2026) or proof that you are a full-time student (for those already attending college), i.e., tuition statement, letter from registrar, etc. 3. Copy of financial statement from the Bursar’s Office, stating student’s outstanding tuition and fees (***NOTE: Scholarships will not cover Room & Board, just tuition). 4. Copies of most current Federal Income Tax Returns (your parents’ return and your return, if you did paid work). 5. Copy of debt schedule (if applicable) stating any accrued liability of the student. 6. A copy or transcript of your Baptismal or Chrismation Certificate. 7. One (1) Letter of Recommendation. 8. An essay (topics are listed on the checklist). 9. A brief resume (2 pages maximum), including information about yourself, as detailed on the checklist. 10.Proof of permanent residency, such as a birth certificate, naturalization certificate, or permanent residency certificateNOTE: ONLY tuition scholarships will be awarded and will be paid directly to the college or university being attended!!! Use the checklist to make sure you have included every item in your submission. Recommendation letters can be sent directly to the committee from the individuals writing them or you can collect them and submit them with the rest of your documents. In either case, the applicant is responsible for ensuring that these letters, as well as any other documents, are received by the committee.
