The Christos and Georgia Trakatellis Fellowship Fund was created by His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios and his brother Prof. Antonios Trakatellis in memory of their parents, Christos and Georgia for the purpose of offering financial assistance to graduates of Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology to study Greek language, Hellenic culture and liturgical practices here or preferably in Greece or at the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Constantinople. The study could be part of an established academic program (Doctoral or Master Levels) or part of a free program, which, however, should be well structured and clearly defined in view of the above stated purpose of the fund.
Candidates for Fellowships shall be selected based on “merit” and “need”. As stated above, the Fellowship is available only to graduates of Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology. The amount of the Fellowship is up to $5,000 per academic year. One or more full, or partial, Fellowships shall be awarded annually.
Candidates need to complete the attached application and submit it together with the following documentation: • A complete Academic Record (including undergraduate and graduate transcripts, past and present) • A Curriculum Vitae • A statement outlining the candidate’s proposed program of activities • Three letters of recommendation (one must be from someone at Holy Cross School of Theology, one should be from a clergyman and one from a non-clergyman) • A Budget and/or Statement of Need outlining sources of financial support as well as a calculation of expenses related to the intended field of study. This should be accompanied by a statement from the Bursar’s Office stating any outstanding tuition, and a debt-schedule (if applicable) stating any accrued liability at the time of application.
